This is not really brand new.... ... see British Medical Journal from 2020 !!! http://circuit-training-dehnen-dr-klee.de/…/Herbert_Gabriel… But one very important thing has not been mentioned here. And this is our neurology!
I agree, stretching feels good! And this information is received by our brains either. And what is it´s back answer if it notices, YAY I´m feeling good!? Right, it relaxes your muscles!!! Means, the main effect of stretches are based on neurological information flow and not a physical lengthening of tissue and all this sort of things. And as a consequence we all should reconsider when and why we´re stretching. Here an example. Many people know very tight neck and shoulder muscles. As our neurological system protects neck and shoulders after too long hours on a desk, too much stress etc it is a rather inappropriate action, to force your neck muscles in a stretched position and signalizing your brain there is more stress to come. The brains back answer pulling on a protected system, is even more tightness!
We already heard about it when I did my professional development late 90s and early 2000s.
